Payee Screening
Screen a payee wallet or name against the OFAC SDN list and check a merchant domain’s age and DNS before payment.
Read the APIWho it’s for
Agents, payment operators and merchants evaluating an unfamiliar counterparty.
Price
0.01 USDC per screen; spending-rule preflight is 0.02 USDC.
Paid calls use x402 with USDC on Base. Read the quote before authorizing payment; examples below do not pay automatically.
Know the limits
A non-match is not clearance. Domain signals and possible name matches need human interpretation. No legal advice or compliance certification.
A 30-second integration
Examples use placeholders. Plain requests to paid tools return a payment challenge, not a paid result. Free Lint can perform an unpaid public probe. Inspect the response status and evidence scope before using any result.

Use standard fetch alongside the SpendPreflight SDK; the example does not invent a dedicated exported method.
// Node.js SDK integration: use your explicitly budgeted fetch.
// Plain fetch below never signs or pays. There is no dedicated
// spendpreflight SDK helper for this operation.
const response = await fetch('https://api.spendpreflight.com/v1/check', {
method: 'POST', headers: { 'Content-Type': 'application/json' },
body: JSON.stringify({"name":"Example Merchant"})
});
console.log(response.status, await response.text());Frequently asked questions
Does screening certify a payee?
No. It reports list matches and dated domain signals, not identity, licensing or a guarantee of lawful activity.
Can an agent apply spending limits?
Use preflight_payment or POST /v1/preflight for an allow, hold or block decision against explicit rules. The service never moves the payment under review.
